Nikah Case Update: Khawar Maneka Casts Doubt on Judge’s Impartiality
The ongoing nikah case of Imran Khan, and Bushra Bibi saw a dramatic turn in recent hearing. Khawar Maneka, ex-husband of Bushra Bibi lost his trust in Session Judge Shahrukh Arjumand who is presiding over appeals against the sentence.
Accusations of Bias and Pressure
Maneka called for the case to be transferred to another court as he thinks that justice will not be served under Judge Arjumand,. He said about alleged communication in the home and messages from Zulfi Bukhari indicating that the case had already been fixed.
Judge Arjumand asked on what grounds these allegations are being made. He talked about his long career and said that this is the first time such an allegation has been made against him. He told them that his main concern is to provide justice and the case will not be transferred.
Heated Exchanges in Court
During the session, there was also a tense exchange between Maneka and PTI’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja. Maneka accused Raja of being involved in PTI’s alleged wrongdoings, while Raja denied the claims and termed them as an attempt to pressurize the court and discredit its reputation.
Judge Arjumand Addresses Accusations
Judge Arjumand recognized that losing parties usually blame the judges for being biased or taking bribes. He assured that he will conduct a fair trial and reserved his decision on the transfer of case.
The nikah case is going on. The tensions are high and accusations are flying from both sides. The final result can be anything which makes it difficult to predict what will be the implications of this verdict.
