Karachi and Islamabad Airports to Implement “Road to Makkah” Initiative for Hajj Pilgrims

Karachi and Islamabad airports are under consideration to be a part of the “Road to Makkah” project initiated by the Saudi Ministry of Interior and Immigration.

Saudi Delegation Arrives in Karachi

A special 82-member Saudi delegation has landed in Karachi to monitor the “Road to Makkah” project implementation. The team will check arrangements at the Karachi airport and tell the management about the dedicated immigration counters.

Dedicated Counters and Immigration Process

Eight dedicated immigration counters with Saudi immigration system will be established at Karachi and Islamabad airports, where Saudi immigration officials process the paperwork and complete the immigration of the Hajj pilgrims. The data of pilgrims leaving from Karachi and Islamabad will also be merged into the system, which will make things even easier for them in Saudi Arabia after arrival.

First Hajj Flight and Project Scope

The first Hajj flight of the “Road to Makkah” initiative is set to take off from Karachi on May 9th. More than 16,000 pilgrims will benefit from this project at Karachi this year. In Islamabad total 71 flights will come under this initiative.

Collaboration and Implementation

The joint efforts of the Saudi Ministry of Religious Affairs, Civil Aviation Authority, and airport authorities in Pakistan can be seen in the “Road to Makkah” project. This will significantly improve the Hajj experience for Pakistani pilgrims by reducing wait times and streamlining the immigration process.
