Minister Announces Overbilling Relief and Continued Crackdown

Federal Minister Mohsin Naqwi, during a recent media talk shared big progress in the fight against electricity overbilling. 31 crore units have been returned to consumers all over Pakistan who were affected by inflated bills people can take a breath of relief now. This step has released many households from financial burden and also indicated that government is serious about resolving this issue

Investigation and Arrests

Naqwi talked about the extensive investigation due to which 102 FIRs have been lodged against the people involved in an overbilling scheme. Authorities have arrested a key person from Sheikhu Pura who was having a large amount of data and playing a major role in manipulating billing systems recently. This arrest has happened after the previous arrests of scammers confirming that the government is determined to bring all culprits to justice.

Concern for Lower-Level Staff

Minister Naqwi made it clear that this issue has been on the radar for quite a while but the staff of electricity departments who are on lower posts have to bear the brunt. He also said we have to differentiate between those who have been forced to do so and the actual masterminds behind this scheme Our focus is to save these vulnerable staff members while punishing the real criminals.
