Bushra Bibi’s Jail Transfer Case: Court Expresses Frustration Over Delays

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) showed its distress at the continuous delays in the case regarding the transfer of ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi from Adiala Jail to Attock Jail.

Lawyer’s Absence

During the hearing, Usman Riaz Gill, the lawyer of Bushra Bibi was not present in court because of which Justice Hassan Aurangzeb expressed his resentment. He said “Both parties are playing politics with the court. I am giving a last chance; if the lawyer does not appear at the next hearing I will dismiss the petition.”

State Counsel Requests More Time

State prosecutor pleaded for more time, saying that they are in talks and might make an agreement but guess what? Justice Miangul was surprised when he listened about the agreement. He asked for the nature of the agreement. On which state lawyer said details of the agreement are still in discussion.

Court’s Concerns and Adjournment

Justice Hassan Aurangzeb mentioned the court’s apprehension about the possible misuse of the legal system. He saw that petitions are being filed in a sequence and proceedings are being prolonged until relief is near once they see some hope of getting relief. He advised people not to use this type of tactics and adjourned the hearing till May 2nd.
