Islamabad High Court Orders Appearance on Naan and Roti Pricing Dispute
In a major development at the Islamabad High Court, the plea of Naanbais Association on government pricing regulations on Naan and Roti was heard. The court has summoned Additional Attorney General and Advocate General for tomorrow’s hearing in this case as well as Mutale officer from Deputy Commissioner office.
Legal Argument Unveiled
The legal representative of Naan Buy Association raised an important point during the hearing. He said that as per the notification of the magistrate, Roti has been fixed at Rs 16 but under Price Control Act these notifications should be issued by the provincial government not the Controller General. This puts a question on the validity of pricing mechanism which is being followed right now.
Economic Ramifications
The financial repercussions of the existing pricing structure were highlighted during the hearing. According to Naanbais Assossiation lawyer government order to sale roti 16 rupees and sale naan 20 rupees they said it is impossible to sell at government price because roti costs us 27 rupees and naan costs 30 rupees so tell us how we can sale it in goverment’s rate.
Court’s Action
Feeling the urgency and seriousness of the matter, court issued a notice and adjourned the matter till tomorrow. This order shows that court wants to scrutinize the legal and economic aspects of the case before making any decision.
